So I have a story coming out in a Halloween-themed anthology in a few days. Do pick this up, it’s The Bell Tolls at Midnight.
But the reason I am chuffed to bits right now, is because the ARC reviews are starting to come in, and I’m mentioned in two of them. I’m not a well known author, virtually unheard of. Let’s face it, I’m a small potato. But…
One reader said: 3.5 stars. This is an OK anthology, with entries centering around a legend involving bells foretelling true love. My favorites were by authors I'm not all that familiar with compared to the others: Elizabeth Heights and EL Johnson. I would give their novellas 4 stars (with Charlotte Wren's an honorable mention at 3.75 stars). They did a nice job of creating engaging storylines and creating characters you wanted to read more about, with a touch of Halloween-themed mystery. The rest suffered, to me, from being too short, lack of character development, or just being set during time periods that don't really appeal to me.
Another reader ranked all the stories in the anthology and said this about mine: E.L. Johnson Yes I always enjoy this author's stories in these anthology books and this one was really good! This and Mary's were my favorites. Great ghost story, good romance, and I liked the mystery as well… My rating is based on the stories I bought this story for, EL Johnson and Mary Lancaster.
This is like huge. For me as an author, it’s a win. For the first time ever, a reader (not friends or family) has said they have bought an anthology because I’ve got a story in it. I mean, that’s like what I would do for a big name author like Jim Butcher, Laurell K Hamilton or Stephen King (and so many other great writers). But me? I’m nobody. This is huge.
So I’m jumping. Super excited. So that’s my big author news. And if you like gothic tales and historical romances with a bit of mystery woven in, pick up the book.
